The Auburn MBA Program
Auburn University is a comprehensive public Land-Grant University (chartered in 1856) located in Auburn, Alabama approximately 100 miles from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Auburn is ideally located midway between the famous white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. The area enjoys four distinct seasons with a particularly beautiful campus which features many historic buildings, trees, seasonal flowering plants, clean air and water in a thriving university community.
The Auburn campus offers many opportunities for cultural diversity, arts, entertainment, music venues, nationally-ranked collegiate sports teams, and outdoor recreational activities. The Academic Program
Auburn University's AACSB-Accredited MBA program is designed to prepare students for positions of leadership in public and private enterprise. The program consists of 36 semester hours of course work. The primary focus is on the core analytical and communications skills that better prepare students for the uncertain future. The program incorporates a balance of theory, practical applications and supplements with a strong focus on team and group activities. While the program stays abreast of the latest trends, it is not trendy. The curriculum has staying power; it reflects the broad, fundamental knowledge upon which students can build successful careers, while allowing each student to specialize and develop further expertise in a particular area of concentration.
MBA students take eight core courses in the program and four electives. Students may choose their electives to earn a concentration in a variety of functional areas including: finance, health care administration, human resource management, marketing, operations management, sports marketing, management information systems, economics, management of technology, agribusiness, and supply chain management. A team strategy case analysis and presentation is the capstone requirement for the degree. Core MBA classes typically have 50 students enrolled while most elective courses have enrollments of 15-20. Most students complete the program in 16 months of full-time work including the required summer internship.
Distance Learning and Outreach MBA Program
Since 1990, the Auburn MBA has been available off campus through the video-based Graduate Outreach Program. Well over 1100 students have completed their degrees through this flexible, innovative program. This program offers professionals the opportunity to continue their education while maintaining full-time employment, regardless of their location. (However, enrollments are limited to U.S., Canada, U.S. Territories, and U.S. Military personnel.) More than 175 students from across the United States in Fortune 500 companies, small firms, and all branches of the military are enrolled each semester and are currently earning their Auburn MBA through this Graduate Outreach Program.
